Why King

Living in King

King Township is where the GTA's wealthiest families go when they want land, privacy, and the feeling of living in the English countryside — thirty minutes from downtown Toronto. The rolling hills along King Road, the horse farms with white-fenced paddocks, the estates set back behind long driveways lined with maples: this is a different world from the rest of York Region. King isn't about convenience or walkability — it's about space, prestige, and a quality of life that can't be replicated in a subdivision.

The township has three distinct villages, each with its own personality. King City is the most accessible, clustered around the King City GO station with a small commercial area along King Road and Keele Street. It's where you'll find the most "residential" options — detached homes on half-acre to one-acre lots, many built in the last 20 years. Nobleton, further west along King Road at Highway 27, has a tighter village core with a few restaurants, a pub, and homes ranging from modest village houses to sprawling properties on the outskirts. Schomberg is the most rural of the three — a farming community with a main street that feels genuinely small-town Ontario, surrounded by agricultural land and protected greenbelt.

King real estate is not for entry-level buyers. The average detached home in King City runs $1.8-2.5M. Estate properties on 5+ acres regularly list above $4M, and the most exclusive equestrian properties along the 15th Sideroad and Dufferin Street can exceed $8M. Country Day School and Villanova College are the private school draws, and their proximity drives premium pricing in nearby pockets.

Buying a home in King means accepting trade-offs — limited transit, no major shopping centres, and drives for most errands. But the greenbelt protection guarantees that the rural character won't be bulldozed for subdivisions. That protection is exactly what makes King Township real estate a long-term asset: they aren't making more of this land.
